Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple – Tiruchirapalli

The main reason to visit Trichy is the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, a vast collection of temple towers and carved pillars on the outskirts of this busy city in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

Sri Ranganathaswamy temple is free to visit, although you might have to pay to store your shoes. The temple is one of the largest in India and it takes a good hour or two to explore. There are some nice carved pillars to see as well as various temple structures both small and large. Most of what you see dates back to between the 14th-17th centuries, although the biggest tower was only completed in 1987.

The Cauvery river is at its majestic best, when it flows through Trichy. It creates an island called SriRangam with its magnificent temples towering into the sky and beguiling the foreign tourists with its myriad gods and goddesses, painted in all colours of the rainbow.

The other main place to see in Trichy is the Rock Fort temple, located on a hill close to the centre of the town. There are a quite a few stairs to walk up but the view from the top is worth it. There is also an old church close to the rock for temple and some other local temples scattered throughout the city.

OOTY – UDAGAMANDALAM

Ooty is a hillstation in the South of India in Tamil Nadu. The best time to visit is rainy season since it will be more charming. The whole town has a few hundred hotels. We stayed in an independent bunglow and it was an amazing ambience and food.

There are a lot of places to eat around. The local cuisine is quite exotic but the cooking standards are not as high as Chennai or like other places in Tamil Nadu. As a popular tourist destination it fails to offer much like it did even about a decade back.

Places to visit here would be Sim’s Park I would recommend to journey by Toy train if you are able to get the tickets. Dolphin’s Nose is a hill which has its peak in the shape of a dolphin. Ooty lake is a place that you cannot miss since the view is too good especially when you can do boating with your closed ones. Ooty botanical garden has different kinds of flowers ranging from rose to marigold to jasmine etc,. And last but not the least the Tea gardens of Ooty where you can see workers pick fresh tea leaves.

Things to do or rather things you can buy there would be homemade chocolates of different varieties, tea which is fresh from the tea garden and raw mangoes.

A FAMILY TRIP TO TIRUNELVELI

Family trips are rejuvenation points and the impact of it is not measurable by yards or sticks. It is the time we give to each other without preoccupations. I would recommend to have a family tip atleast once a year to everyone. We reached Tirunelvi by train.

Nellaiyappar Temple is a temple of historic significance, it is a huge temple and required more than 2 hours to cover it fully. The temple is also one of the five sabhas of Lord Natrajar, Thamira Sabhai. The sabhai is such a beautiful artwork and is used only during Thiruvadirai held in the Margazhi (tamil month).

Baana Theertham waterfalls was our next destination. To reach the falls one has to get to Karaiyar Dam, which is 25km from Ambasamudram, a small town. The route from Ambasamudram to the dam after Papanasam, from where the hills and greenery start is a spectacular view.

The last place was the Iruttu Kadai known for its mouth watering Tirunelvi halwa. The halwa is given on a plaintain leaf and is priced according to season and availability. Whenever you go, you can receive a plate of hot halwa which is found only here.

SINGAPORE- A SATISFYING PLACE AND A MULTICULTURAL COUNTRY

“SINGAPORE”– as the name spells,it sings beautifully with its endless touring spots, clean atmosphere, entirely maintained country on the whole. Initially, i was not willing to join with my parents on this trip, but then only i realized that my opposition was wrong as the trip was very entertaining and glittered my eyes. After so many of verification gates finally reached the entrance of the emirates flight terminated to the awaiting place. Me being myself started fighting for the window seat and won the grapple. After comforting myself, i was gazing the air hostesses in the plane and was wondering why there can’t be steward’s in the flight. At last reached the unseen country and was ready to explore.

Now lets list on the places I visited there. First and foremost we started out for a Singapore City Tour were we covered almost the entire city in that ride. We visited MERLION (Singapore lion with a mermaid’s body). The site was as perfect as we took a lot of photos. I’m posting one of it below. Just look at the surrounding were we can observe that different people share their happiness and joy with others. And the most important thing is that all the people will look after themselves and not look for what others are doing.

Next is CHINATOWN-in which we went to a Buddha temple where the Buddha statue was entirely molded and made of pure gold. After that, we processed to Singapore Flyer which was the huge GIANT WHEEL. This is the world’s biggest giant wheel. There are only two wheels present in this world- first biggest is this one in Singapore and the second one in London. Seriously guys, you should experience the giant wheel were when we reached at the highest point of the wheel we almost saw all the buildings which was distanced immeasurably. Then just imagine the peak point of the wheel. I felt like “OMG!!!!!! Am I dreaming”. The experience in it was for 30 minutes which goes for one complete rotation. The Flyer has an overall height of 165m. It has 28 air-conditioned capsules(glassed compartments).

CHINATOWN- A TRANQUIL PLACE

Few places from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are upcoming till that read the above experience of mine and imagine a trip of you experiencing the so called country “SINGAPORE”. One more surprising incident is waiting for you guys were i faced on the way to the journey to Singapore. Till then keep predicting about it. Any place you travel, first have the urge to look forward for some new beginnings before knowing what happens during your travel. I will also tell about my nourishment part during the tour.

AN ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO KANDY

Kandy is a relatively great sized city in Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by mountains and lakes. It is an excessively ornate city. The city is clean and everything is well regulated. Don’t forget your camera because there are a lot of things to capture here.

1. Kiri Muhuda

Top view of the Lake

The Kiri Muhuda or the Kandy lake is in the core of the metropolis. It is a very short lake artificially built by kings who ruled Sri Lanka for protection purposes. Fishing in the lake is strictly banned. The time when I visited this sea of milk, it was even fall and the lake looked splendiferous. I would suggest you to take a walk along the lake to feel the aura.

2. Traditional masks in Sri Lanka

Peacock mask – For prosperity and peace

The traditional masks are the best souvenir you can get from this place. All the masks are made of wood. It is usually hung on the walls and it is also worn as masks by performers who perform traditional dances. There are several kinds of masks and each has a unique meaning. The locals believe that the masks keep the evil away.

3. the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

The Elephants at the orphanage

The best of visiting Kandy is having to see the enormous creatures very closely and to be able to have a closer bonding. The Pinnawala orphanage maintains Asian elephants and breeds them. The elephants are taken care of when they are ill by veterinarians and also volunteers from other countries. You can pet the elephants and also give them a shower using the fiber of coconut. There also elephant rides available. If you love elephants never miss this place.

 4. THE Rajanima Craft

Men working at the craft shop

This shop in Kandy attracts many tourists for its woodwork. All the products here are hand-carved. The shop also shows you how the work is being done. The paintings on these carved woods are made from natural items, there are no chemicals involved. The prices are quite high but the quality is righteous.
